Quick Links
By this point in Persona 4 Golden, your Investigation Team thinks they’ve got a lead on who’s been kidnapping and killing people around Inaba – Mitsuo Kubo. After asking around and being shown the boy’s photograph, the team is able to find him inside the Midnight Channel and get to work.
Void Quest is a dungeon unlike any other in P4G, though – it’s a retro video game, within a video game. Full of references to other JRPGs and with a killer boss fight at the end, if you’re looking for help on Void Quest in Persona 4 Golden, we’ve got you covered.
We're focused on the combat, but this guide may still contain spoilers for the story of Persona 4 Golden.
Things To Know Before Going Into Void Quest
With so much on the line with finding Mitsuo, and his being the fourth dungeon you tackle, it stands to reason that Void Quest is the hardest dungeon you'll have done so far.
While the design of the dungeon is definitely interesting, with the voice-overs attributing "skill gains" to stats like "coolness" and the dungeon's floors referred to as "chapters," don't let your guard down inside.
You're once again up against randomized floor layouts as you crawl through this dungeon, so your goal should always be to find the stairs to the next floor.
You’re first able to begin infiltrating Void Quest on 7/29, and you have until 8/12 to get to the end and defeat the boss shadow.
Recommended Level
With the shadows inside ranging from Lv. 36-46, we recommend being between Lv. 38-40 before you begin, and training while inside to reach Lv. 45 by the time you're ready to take on the boss fight in Void Quest.
You have ample time to grind inside Void Quest before reaching the boss, so make good use of the time to engage shadows and grind for EXP as you go.
Shadows And Personas In Void Quest
By now, you're used to the battle mechanics inside of dungeons in P4G, so fighting the shadows you stumble on in this dungeon ought to be a breeze.
To help you prepare, we've rounded up a list of all the shadows you'll fight inside the Void Quest dungeon, as well as the Shuffle Time Personas you're able to obtain.

Void Quest Walkthrough
How To Navigate Chapter Three Of Void Quest
For the most part, the first half of the Void Quest dungeon is like the dungeons you’ve done so far, in that you’re fighting through enemies and looking for the stairs to continue onward.
However, when you reach the third floor, labeled as Void Quest Chapter 3, that changes.
You’ll notice on your map that this floor is made up of cross-shaped sections, each with three corridors that lead to dead ends and one being the way you came.
In order to navigate the third floor of Void Quest in P4G, use the left and right dead ends to teleport between sections of the floor.
By running into a dead end on the right side of the cross, you’ll jump to the cross to the right of the original on the map overview. If you run to the left dead end, the opposite is true, and you move to the cross to the left.
There are a number of crosses in the shape, typically with at least one shadow in each. If you’d like to grind for EXP here, feel free to do so, but you’ll eventually want to make your way to the upper left corner of the map overview.
There, you’ll find the door to carry on, with the stairs to the fourth floor directly inside.
How To Navigate Chapter Seven Of Void Quest
After that, the map is back to normal until the seventh floor, which is where you encounter the Killing Hand and Almighty Hand mini-bosses in Persona 4 Golden.
However, getting to the boss fight isn’t as simple as just running there – once again, the dungeon is messing with you.
As you navigate the seventh floor of Void Quest, be aware that the camera changes angles. This will happen every time you step into a hallway intersection.
Although the angle of the camera has changed, the direction in which you were going has not changed. Keep walking in whatever direction forward is to continue through the floor.
You can prevent the angle change from happening by hanging onto the wall as you navigate through an intersection.
It seems that stepping in the middlemost part of the intersection changes the camera. If you’d rather not deal with the inconvenience, hug the wall as you go through floor seven.
We've circled the section of the intersection that will change the camera in the photo above.
Your overall goal is to make it to the mini-boss fight, which can be triggered in the northwest corner of the floor.
Heal before going through the door to challenge it and make quick work of the Killing Hand and Almighty Hand mini-bosses in Void Quest.
Before leaving the area, be sure to grab the Orb of Darkness from the chest behind where you took on the mini-bosses.
You'll need it to access the fight against Shadow Mitsuo, so grab it now to avoid backtracking.
How To Reach The Endgame In Void Quest
The eighth and ninth floors of Void Quest in Persona 4 Golden are much like the rest of the dungeon. Simply explore and find the stairs leading to the next “chapter.”
However, the final floor of the dungeon, the tenth, isn’t called “Chapter 10,” but rather, “Endgame.” This is where you’ll find Shadow Mitsuo.
It’s also where you’ll find Escapist Soldier if you choose to challenge the Void Quest dungeon a second time after defeating Shadow Mitsuo.
Prepare the team and challenge the Shadow Mitsuo boss battle in Void Quest when you’re ready, and the dungeon will be finished after you defeat him.
